‘Smart Move’ is a joint Busworld and IRU campaign involving coach manufacturers, coach federations and coach tourism operators to promote Europe and worldwide employment and use of holiday coaches and public transport buses. The RDA has been actively involved in this welcome initiative since June of this year. A key aim of the joint campaign is that coaches and buses receive more social and political recognition. The RDA will bring a lot of experience and input to this international network. It will make available its RDA environment studies, RDA expert appraisals on the discrimination of holiday coaches and RDA best-practice studies on free coach access to city centres and visitor attractions in Europe. Central themes of the ‘Smart Move’ campaign are the environmental-friendly nature of coaches and buses, sustainable mobility, safety aspects and the economic importance of the branch as a whole. The RDA also offers ‘Smart Move’ opportunities to present its campaign at diverse RDA conferences and meetings. The RDA will also, on the other hand, have access to ‘Smart Move’ findings and will be able to relay these to its members. The RDA logo will also in future feature in the published list of ‘Smart Move’ partners.
